During I made my thesis, I have digested the recommended and self-found literature, and get to know the role and importance of clinical trials in today’s medicine and the topic-related concepts and terms, in addition, real and done trials and their results by them.
In the first section I described the term of study and trial, their similarities, differences, the associated basic concepts like randomization, control, exposition, outcome variable, confounding variable etc. In addition I present the main experimental designs and the causes of their application. For the proper understanding I've collected a lot of examples to illustrate how these experiments work in practice.
In the second part I presented the most importent indicators of clinical trials and the mathematical and logical relationships between of them. The presented indicators: risk, relative risk (RR), odds ratio (OR), attributable risk (AR), Absolute Risk Reduction (ARR), Relative Risk Reduction (RRR), number needed to treat (NNT), number needed to harm (NNH). In addition I also presented the most important metrics of diagnostic tests: sensitivity (SE), specificity (SP), predictive value and likelihood ratio.
In order to easier understanding I aspired to illustrate the practical role if them with example trials. To do this I drew examples from the literature and the indicators were presented trough two theoretical examples.
Int he third part I’ve presented the OpenEpi, an open source epidemiologic statistic web based software.
