Adaptive visualization for the public datasets of voting in the European Parliament

The European Parliament and its members as an institute is highly determinative concerning the present and future of the European Union and its citizens. In this paper a platform is created which gives the opportunity of gathering and creating interesting information for the user, as well as transmitting this information to the public by graphic visualization, based on data engendered through the operation of the Parliament.

The paper demonstrates the planning and decision-making processes - and their implementations in practice - which helped in creating the visualization platform. Furthermore, the paper expounds the basic structure and operation of the European Parliament and the interpretation of the data created in the ParlTrack project and used throughout the paper. Hereupon the visualization tools which are used to create such platforms and are generally used in informatics nowadays are discussed. Then the practical implementation of a planned and established end-to-end system is expounded through one chosen tool of the above, including subassemblies.

At the end of the paper, the created functionalities are shown through example visualizations, and finally further possibilities for development are discussed.
