Developement of general purpose color data display unit

In control systems the task of collecting data for the central data processing system is handed to transducers, which are placed near the controlled process. These devices provide a high precision analog or digital output proportional to the measured signal. The output signal is transferred to the central computer, where it is evaluated.

In my thesis I would like to present the steps of designing a general-purpose color display unit. The device displays data transmitted from the different transducers (manufactured by the company Vertesz) and provides access to them through Ethernet network. The user can change settings with the help of an ergonomic menu defining which information to display.

The corporate environment gives me an insight in the life of a real profit-making company. Therefore beyond the experience and knowledge that comes with hard work I get to realize that an engineer's work is not strictly limited to working out the technical details, but a marketing point of view (is it salable?) should be considered too.
