Nowadays smartphones are gaining much importance in all areas of our lives, thus we can also enjoy their benefits in danger management systems. Since our devices that are continuously connected to the Internet are always with us, we can be immediately informed about the state of our system, the occurred events, and signals.

Within the scope of my thesis, I implemented the expansion and actualisation of Siwena Ltd.’s 3-year-old Android client, in order to fulfil the incurred needs since then. Therefore, the usage of the danger management system have become easier and more convenient, since the most commonly used functions are now available on smartphones as well.

The communication between the Siwenoid server application (written in Java programming language and running on PC) and the Android client reaps benefits from the opportunities of Google Cloud Messaging and as a result of my work on the above mentioned expansion, one can be informed about changes within the system in an efficient way. The server application keeps stations, manages users and connected clients in touch. As a result of the expansion there is an opportunity to watch live videostream from cameras, connected to Hikvision DVR, NVR digital recorders, and PTZ control is also possible. The user can be informed about events and signals created in the system by Push notifications. Furthermore, sending commands to data points as well as acknowledging have been made subject to location-based restriction.
