Developing an Augmented Reality Application on Android Platform

The Augmented Reality (AR) is one of the most rapidly advancing segment in Information Technology. In AR applications the elements of the physical, real-world environment are „augmented” by computer-generated sensory input, such as sound or graphics. These can be various information: signs or data. As a result, the technology functions by enhancing one’s current perception of reality. This has now become available for mobile telephones too opening doors to whole new ideas and possibilities. The subject of my thesis is the demonstration of this technology in a mobile application on Android platform.

At first some research is needed in the subject of Augmented Reality in mobile environment. Particularly on Android platform to find all the available open-source applications and frameworks related to it. The results of the research should be tested out and evaluated carefully.

Based on it my task is to engineer and implement an individual application to demonstrate the possibilities in this technology.
