The object of my diploma thesis is to construct an onboard computer for older cars, which contains some of the comfort functions of modern cars. I implemented these functions to the planned system: display actual fuel consumption, display average fuel consumption on total distance, display average fuel consumption on trip distance, display distances, display amount of fuel in tank, anti-theft system based on vehicle tracking, display time, display temperature. The plans are suited for one particular type of car, but can be used for others with minor modifications. For developing and testing I had a Suzuki Wagon R+ from 2003.
The diploma presents the process of hardware and software development from choosing electronic parts to software modules.
During work I’ve tried to come to know automotive technologies and apply them to my project.
The diploma thesis document presents the used technologies in modern cars, compares them to the solution made by me. At the end of the design description I will rate my product and I write some word about possibilities of further development.
