It is a crucial task in automotive industry to provide a high level of security for our application softwares and the information inside them. This task has become more and more important in the past years. Such a control system the electrical steering systems developed by thyssenkrupp Components Technology Hungary Kft.. Due to the high level of safety standards, the security standards must meet these requirements too. In this thesis, I present the
developement of a security module for a developement phase of the steering system.
Potential threats and information about the protection of the control system will be presented. By complying with a number of standards and company requirements, I have developed a security module for the control unit using multiple technologies.
The main part of the module is the digital signature generation subsystem for the application software, for further security I have implemented protection for the debug port of the controller unit. I will discuss the acquisition of the necessary prerequisites in detail, and I will also describe the realization of the concrete task.
In accordance to the expectations, I have accomplished the task. A fully functional prototype is ready, which has passed the needed tests in the motor control subsystem of the steering system. There are, of course, further development opportunities that will further enhance the safety and usability of the module.
