Automated report generation tool development for complex test

Automated test control and measurement systems provide help during the verification of embedded electronic devices. Complicated tests can be implemented with a sequence of test steps programmed in advance. The test systems often consist of several autonomus components what generate their own reports separately from the data collected during the test. These reports are usually large documents, which are difficult to manage and read.

Within this thesys I was dealing with this problem. I examined, changed and supplemented the automatic report generator softwares in order to make the reports coherent, thus making them easy to process and making them contain the necessary information. I created a visualization software that can combine multiple, differently formatted reports and can display them in a structured way. The goal was to generate a surface based on the reports, which are adequately simple on a particular level and adequately detailed on another level. The user can make quick decisions based on the results of the processed reports. The software is designed to be easily transferrable into a new test environment.

The result is the modified test environment and a tool that co-operates with many programs and developer libraries. The test environment in this case is the National Instruments TestStand or the LabVIEW development environment, but it also could be some other report generator system. The tool is a Windows program developed in .NET Framework. It consists of a visualizer tool with control functions and processing components.
