In my paper I’m considering the management of the introduction of Long Term Evolution. Based on the tendencies of last few years I draw up the reason of the necessity of a new way of telecommunication. The actuality of this technology is not a question regarding the technologies being used nowadays in the market. This issue does affects the Hungarian telecommunication service providers’ plans and developments. These days the development and upgrade of networks in an ongoing project among providers in case if the time arrives the so called 4G should be ready to be launched to commercial usage.
In the first part of my work I am giving a brief introduction to the history and evolution of telecommunication networks. I will show the milestones, needs, trends, which have led the technology and bore the needs to the increase of traffic speed, mobility requirements; and thus the need for fourth generation capabilities. I make a short introduction to the 4G technical details, thus I give a reason, why is it meaningful to discuss on the introduction of LTE. Furthermore I state the necessity of getting know the technologies and to see a more detailed description of the new telecommunication technology.
After the technical introduction, I am considering the management part of my thesis. I try to explore the strategic-, project- and operational management techniques, tools, aspects that helps in introducing a product or service into the market and makes the whole process more efficient. Within each area I define, what is the specific task of this management area, and what are the elements of it. I am considering the main pillars of strategy management (time, cost, quality) are typical methods. I sum up the stages of a typical project, and I show what are the roles each of these stages. I point out of what is the main aim of the operational management, and how it differs from the other two incumbent management topics. I briefly present two stakeholder analysis method, the SWOT and the PEST(EL) analysis.
The third section outlines the possible future views after having considered the above mentioned stakeholder methods of LTE. I examine the current situation of the telecommunication service providers in Hungary and the international situation of the introduction of LTE. I explore the advanced level of the individual providers in Hungary, and then I consider the question, when they plan the introduction of 4G. After analyzing the domestic and international situation, I review some questions of the technical point of view - such as handovers, femtocells, quality of service - and I try to seek for possible answers, alternatives, and provide professional opinions on its merits.
