Inegration of CAN Bus Based Pedal Dynamometer into XLMeter Delta Device

Car manufacturers aim to create a safer way of traffic. Big part of the new researches work towards this. The flawless operation of the brake system is crucial to a safe way of driving. It is really important to see, that the parts of the brake system might get damaged during daily usage, causing a drastic reduction of brake efficiency. The Inventure Kft. developed the XLMeter Gamma to measure the brake efficiency. The brake system’s efficiency can be determined with the help of this device.

Customers responses influenced the development of the new version of the XLMeter family, with new functions. With these improvements the new device is able to gather information about single parts of the brake system. In my BSC thesis I was working on the integration of an intelligent pedalforce sensor in this sensor system. With this solution it is possible to measure the reaction time of the braking system, and the ratio of the force applied to the brake pedal to the deceleration. My work included modifying the source code of the intelligent pedal force sensor, implementing a way of storing the received data in the XLMeter, and a client application running on a PC.
