The development of a CPS monitoring example systems

As a result of the rapid development of technology, in recent years cheaper and more accurate sensors have spread widely, and have started to be applied in many new areas. Thus, the amount of data and information from sensors started to grow explosively, especially in the Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs), whose characteristics is that a computer system monitors physical processes based on incoming information and intervenes if necessary.

Delivering large amounts of data from CPS systems to processing units is not a trivial task. In the past, several open source solutions aiming to filter, process and transmit sen-sor data were developed to solve this problem.

In my thesis, I will present the technologies I have got familiar with, that is to say, the open source technologies, (Edge technologies), which put screening and forwarding information deriving from CPS systems into effect. Furthermore, I will outline the development of an example system that seeks to use these technologies for an environmental monitoring system.
