Nowadays, the cloud-based systems are one of the fastest spreading technologies.
The cloud system’s serving data centers have excessive availability requirements. To
meet these expectations, the application of monitoring in data centers is essential. The
monitoring makes capable to control the resources and the installed network.
The goal of my thesis is to design a practical monitoring architecture and
demonstrate how it works. The demonstration has two perspectives: the first is a
presentation about a possible way of adding this into an existing network layout and the
second is the description about workarounds during network attacks.
The first part of thesis contains the theoretical background for the designing and
the measurement process. It introduces the basic architecture of data centers, the concept
of monitoring and several types of network attacks.
The next section presents in more depth the monitoring and the related concepts.
After the preludes we ensue the expounding of a dynamic monitoring structure with the
specification of required knowledges.
The final chapter describes the environment of measurement, the process of
analysis and evaluation. This part validates the designed monitoring behavior through the
detection and analysis of possible network intrusions. This takes place with the analysis
of the measurements from the existing network.
