Asset management applications of diagnostic and life data

In urban territories, electric power is being transmitted by underground medium voltage cables. In order to maintain the reliability of the system as well as the high number of consumers per cable require these to operate properly. When an error occurs in the system, the solving of the problem can take a long time due to the location of the faulty equipment. With a proper asset management system, these outages can be reduced in number and the repairing times can be shortened, too.

My research is concentrating on the realization of an asset management system focusing on medium voltage cables. With this system, it will be possible to gain correct information about the current condition of the devices and create an effective maintenance plan for the future repair works.

The basis of the model is the Weibull distribution. This method creates an opportunity for lifetime prediction that is very close to reality. The goal of the system is to provide a better optimized asset management strategy with the same resources.
