My task was to analyze the routing optimization (RO) of the mobile networks (NEMO) in the INET/OMNeT++ simulation environment. The essential modules for the operation of the NEMO BS protocol have already been implemented in the INET framework. For the first step of simulation I modified a sample network and measured the delay and the packet loss. Problems of the NEMO BS protocol are more critical in nested mobile networks, therefore I created some networks with multiple nesting levels using the OMNeT++ simulator. After measuring the performance of the NEMO BS, I've implemented a routing optimization solution and compared the results.
In the first part of my thesis I briefly introduce the specialties of the mobile networks, the operation of the NEMO BS protocol and the necessity of the routing optimization. In the following chapters I introduce the most important existing RO solutions. Finally I describe the details of the RO solution that I implemented in the simulation framework and analyze the effect of the optimization by comparing the measured results.
