With the development of technology, more and more electronic systems can be found in our vehicles. One of them is electric power steering. In this MSc thesis we present the planning of a test bench which can perform the functional testing of the electric power steering’s electronic control unit. The test equipment has to execute the test steps given in the test specification of the product with the precision and repeatability that meet the requirements of the automotive industry.
At first we would like to give a general view of this electronic control unit, then we present the test steps that are necessary for its functional test. After that we describe the test bench and present the selection of the measuring instruments. We compare two possible realizations of the test bench based on their capabilities and on their costs. We also give the error and tolerance calculations where they are necessary. Then we present the development of the test software which can perform all the required test steps.
