Nowadays the number of devices connected to the internet is growing very fast. Usage of these devices is common in the surrounding of smart cities. One of the use cases is connecting the different sensors to the internet. Plenty of data can be collected from these devices and can provide us a lot of useful information. However, gaining information from big amounts of data is not evident.
In this thesis I dealt with planning and implementing both a data collecting system and a distributed data processing system. My aim was to create a system which not only collects and processes data but does it on a fault tolerant and distributed way. Beside these, the system can be extended easily and can be used to solve various problems in the circumstances of a smart city.
During the planning and the implementation phase I tried and used old and actual technologies as well. I developed for internet enabled embedded systems and single-board computers, too. I demonstrated my working solution with the help of an actual problem, the air pollution.
