Eurobot is an international robotic contest for engineering students in which the team of the Department of Automation and Applied Informatics, cooperating with the Department of Mechatronics, Optics and Mechanical Engineering Informatics has been participating for more than 10 years. The knowledge and experience acquired during the years enables the team to continuously improve the robot. The architecture of the robot for the Eurobot 2015 contest was renewed, thanks to this I could join the team.
Because of the new architecture, the peripheral cards, which are responsible for certain tasks, had to be renewed. My thesis is about designing BDC Node, Input Node and Drive Node.
In my thesis I introduce the old and renewed architectures of the robot and compare their features. As a next step I demonstrate the process of designing and constructing of each peripheral card, and present their software functions and the steps of testing. Finally I summarize my experiences during the whole development process.
