Study of energy saving possibilities in buildings

The impact of the last century’s technological improvement caused a fast and aggressive consumption growth of the primary and secondary energy sources. Nowadays this procession is getting unsustainable, which set up a new buzzword of the 21th century: the sustainable development.

The aim of this paper is to study the problem of the green thinking, and green technologies from the side of the energy consumers. It focuses mainly on the study of the saving possibilities in buildings.

The first part of the study is a summary which run on the agreements of the climate change. It starts with the Kyoto Protocol, and then goes it’s impact to the European, and Hungarian law. After that the Hungarian building substance get showed, and then the potential of the energy saving. The second part of the study focuses on energy saving solutions in the respect of the directives. The first aspect is the energy saving possibilities of the different building construction methods. It is studied primary the economical side of this question and considered the possibilities of ground heat sources. The other aspect of this topic is the building automation. This subject starts with a short review of the theoretical background of building automation. Then a reference building is rated by efficiency of heating and electrical consumption. A complex KNX supported building automation system get casted for this building. In the end this project’s economical aspects get reviewed, and compared with other international studies.
