Nowadays the mobile phones are almost indispensable part of our daily lives. Because of their small size and versatile functionality they rest in almost every people’s pocket. As the result of the increasing technological advancement the mobile market is gaining more and more complex applications, which availability had been limited to only desktop version. Nowadays, the service providers see the potential expansion to the mobile market.
The subject of this degree thesis is a presentation of a food ordering service, where the user interface is separated from the PC world and concentrated to the Android platform. The thesis demonstrates the planning phase of the service and the implementation phase of the service from the database design to the smartphone application. At the end of the thesis it presents the analysis of the servie.
By the help of the mobile application the users are able to optionally create a profile and customize it by adding preferences to modify the displayed menu. The users can sort and filter dishes for make it easier to explore and make an order list which will be forwarded to the restaurant. In order to establish a more friendly relationship with the restaurant the registered users can rate, and comment to the offered dishes.
