FPGA based video game controller

In the general educational experimental and scientifically aspects, the Field programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology is gaining popularity not just on the market, but also due to its easiness of development and maintenance solution to many speed and critical applications.

The purpose of doing this project is to explore the world of FPGAs by implementing a game on the top of a VGA driver, the project was implemented on Xilinx Spartan-3E development board using VHDL hardware description language.

The whole process ended using VHDL as well with Spartan-3E development board and Xilinx ISE design software. A simple application were developed first in order to comfortably proceed on to investigation of working principled of VGA driver.

As a final result , a pong game implemented, two players needed to control the paddles against each other where each player tries to hit a ball towards the opponent. A number of basic features , such as acceleration of the ball , change the appearance of the frame color and counting the score on the board LEDs , have been created.
