We are seeing Cloud Computing to emerge to be the new buzzword of the IT sector. To clarify things a bit we are going to present the facts and the concepts of the subject like the classification of service models including SaaS, PaaS and IaaS. Following that will be a brief section about the history of cloud computing. It will help us understand the key points of this technology better.
After the concepts there will be a detailed introduction to NIIF Cloud, an IaaS software stack. We're also going to discuss the drawbacks of this stack. Some of those will be attributed to OpenNebula, which is another IaaS solution used internally by NIIF Cloud. And we also set the key points of what we want to achieve through the course of the thesis.
Using OpenNebula as an example we can get some general insights about using open source software as parts of bigger projects.
The next chapter will be guide through the design process of a virtual machine scheduler, handler and monitoring tool. We will talk briefly about the specification and the database schema design phase.
After that we will get a brief view of the most important and interesting points of the implementation process. We will also get some information about the test system and the tests which were done to prove the working condition of the finished software.
The last chapter will summarize the thesis and will give tips to possible future works about the subject.
