Cloud based Product Support System

Parallel to the conceptual appearance of Industry 4.0 in society, modern information technology speed-up to spread over to the traditional fields of the industry and manufacturing. I could get a look on some of the important aspects of this cooperation during preparing for and composing of my thesis and the implementation of the targeted functionality.

I had two main tasks to prepare for: firstly I had to implement a desktop application to support maintenance, commissioning and verification of a low voltage drive system, secondly I had to design, implement and verify a cloud-based application laying out the core of a future product support environment.

In the first part of my thesis I am emphasizing the details of the implementation, such as the development environment, the structure of the main components, the implemented functionality, the communication with the drive, the test opportunities and the possibility of future improvements.

In the second part of my thesis I’m focusing on the conceptual plan of the cloud based product support system. I am demonstrating the technologies used during implementation, and the fields of applications. I had to tailor the user interface and the functionality of a ready-made Android application, I integrated this component into the working prototype of the system.

There are several possibilities to improve and develop existing functionality of the cloud based environment, which are mentioned in the end of thesis too.
