The evolution of the mobile communications nowadays is unstoppable. New standards are introduced day after day and become the part of our lives. The technological evolution is generated mainly by the changing and increasing demands.

In my thesis, I would show, how the most common mobilcommunication standards have been developed and show you what kind of demands needed to be supplied. To show this, I will introduce the main protocols defined by 3GPP. At the end of this chapter, I would show you the main technology and its background of the next generation: this is the LTE system.

Afterwards I try to present the main needs led to the femtocell technology. I would like to show you the most important parts and the advantanges of this system.

In the next chapter, I would show you the current and the next-generation technologies based on the femtocell system. The mathematical model of the operation is showed.

At the end of the day, I would analyse and show the detailed simulation: Is the femtocell structure sustainable.
