The topic of my thesis was provided by Gamma Digital Ltd. The title of my work is Development of a database of process controllers for pharmaceutical industry plants.

My task was the development of a web application, which could display infor-mation concerning the control systems of a pharmaceutical industry plant. It was my assignment to understand these systems. In order to achieve this, I spent a lot of time in the plant observing the control systems. After this I organized and uploaded the collect-ed information into the database.

My primary goal was to create an automation and informatics database, the pur-pose of which is to help maintenance. Quick maintenance is achieved by storing the most important data. A database of process controllers is not just a simple catalog, in which devices can be stored. It contains complex information about the control system of the manufacturing machine. The control network is assembled using the information about devices uploaded into the database. Bug reporting supports quick error handling and tracking of the state of machines.

Using the process controller database, a pharmaceutical company may keep track of the setup, hardware elements and lifeline of a given machine. Discovering these systems in detail supports maintenance and error handling
