Design and implementation of a HIL testing environment

I made my thesis at the Budapest R&D center of Knorr-Bremse Fékrendszerek Kft., there I won insights in all days of a world-class automotive companies, which enrich my professional experience a lot during the time that I spent at Knorr-Bremse.

Within the framework of the thesis I carried out literature research of Hardware-in-the-Loop, Software-in-the-Loop, V-modell, I summarized the acquired knowledge in details, particularly the operation and the benefits of uses of Hardware-in-the-Loop.

My further work was to design and build an integrated HIL test environment for testing automotive embedded control systems of commercial vehicles. First of all I got to know the developed basic concept, after that based on the acquired information I made the block diagram of the system and presented the properties and the operation of the components of the E/E subsystem. For the integration of the system I made the rack oriented wiring plan and the layout plan of the system. After finished the plans I built two copies of it. I mentioned the methods and the solutions of during the construction arising problems in details too. I presented the pneumatic subsystem based on the pneumatic layout plan by which I extended my knowledge about the operation and notation of pneumatic systems.

I prepared and introduced the supplements and modifications of the relay control program of the PLC, particularly display control and direct relay control. For this I had to know the relay control PLC and the compatible development environment.

At the end of my thesis I examined to the further development of the system and I made suggestions for improvement because of the reliable and safe operation.
