In this paper I will demonstrate all the positioning methods used by the so called Long Term Evolution network meeting different demands of accuracy.
To get a good understanding of the system, first we need to learn the nodes of 4G network taking part in the process of positioning. Based on this knowledge we have a closer look at the positioning service itself and its general architecture, all the methods of positioning requests, especially for the Mobile Originating Location Request, where the user equipment itself wishes to attain its position. We also examine the quality requirements of the positioning accuracy in the service (QoS).After having all this learnt I’ll demonstrate the positioning methods focusing on the OTDOA, Observed Difference Time Of Arrival, which will be studied in greater detail.
Following that I would like to run simulations in the OTDOA positioning environment with the help of Matlab’s LTE system toolbox, where we can study the accuracy of the actual positioning method of different solutions of the industry.
