Inspection of hybrid cars on a dynamometer with different driving cycles

Nowadays the emphasis on alternative drivetrains is getting bigger due to the increasing fuel prices, the diminishing resources and environmental policy. The hybrid technology is one of the most advanced ones. The number of hybrid cars in the automotive industry and market is escalating. The manufacturers tend to give the lowest possible consumption and emission values.

In the pursuit of rightful rating various test cycles were developed to test the fuel consumption of the car (these test were not made only for hybrid cars). If we measure the cars with these cycles than we can compare the fuel consumptions and emissions correctly. Most of these cycles are to be done on a chassis dynamometer.

In my thesis I write down the fuel consumption measurement processes of a car (Mercedes-Benz E300 BlueTEC hybrid). To begin with I summarize the most significant test cycles, then I review the types of the hybrid drivetrains. After that I describe the car that we measured. Finally, I present the results and evaluate them.
