The assignment handler and administration system called Jporta has been running at the Department of Control Engineering and Information Technology for almost a year. Based on initial observations and feedbacks from the lecturers it was determined that the communication between teachers and students needs to be more interactive. In parallel to my thesis an automatic assignment evaluation component was also introduced to the system to aid remote training and home learning. To do this it automatically compiles and runs the submitted programs and provides nearly instant feedback about their correctness.
To increase the interactivity I will design and implement a complete messaging system and a quiz application that lecturers can use to assess the students’ knowledge.
In the second part of my thesis I will create a software environment that can run the submitted programs safely during the automatic evaluation, without jeopardizing the host system. I will also introduce the used technologies to achieve this.
