Design of intelligent building supervisory system with microcontroller

Nowadays, thanks to the spread of computers, high level of automation can be achieved in more and more areas. That, and the availability of electronic components at an affordable price made building security systems for homes accessible.

In my thesis I present a design of such a system. The motion sensing modules are equipped with PIR sensors, which can operate with Mignon batteries due to their low power consumption. Apart from the movement detection, tasks of this unit includes alerting or sending signals based on the instructions of the main unit.

The main unit is communicating with the prevoiusly mentioned sensors and allows the user to reconfigure the system (after being authenticated).

The system is accessible over the Internet via an Ethernet capable development board. It is mainly used for remote monitoring, but it is also capable of performing time synchronization.

The separate units are communicating with each other through a wireless module. Its software and the message exchanges are presented.
