Smart Socket microcontroller design

In my opinion, it is important to know the consumption of an electric device or machine because this way we can save energy, so I decided to implement a smart plug. It has a relay as well, so it is possible to control remotely (switch on or off without physical connection) the lighting, microwave oven, water boiler or any plugged device.

My thesis presents the implementation of the smart plug. First of all I designed the system (the application is on the PC and I use Bluetooth for the wireless comminucation). I go on with the hardware design starting with a block diagram and then the component selection and the schematic design in details and finally the implementation of the printed circuit board. The next chapter is about the configuration of the modules and the structure of the application software.

In the following chapter I write about the result of the relay control and the consumption measurement tests. At the end, I assess my work and list some of the developement possibilities.
