Development of Smart Home Applications using Microsoft's Kinect v2

Nowadays, computer technology is becoming a more and more integrated component of our everyday life. Due to increasing demand for automation, constantly improving sensor technology and smart home appliances, switches, smart home is becoming an increasingly affordable concept.

Smart home technology, with its convenience and accessibility functions can ease the burden of everyday tasks.

This thesis demonstrates the development of a smart home controller application and the required knowledge to get the concept of smart home technology. I have conducted researches about Windows Store application development for Windows 8.1, studied the new functions, possibilities of Windows 10 Insider Preview and gained a profound knowledge about both the Kinect for Windows 2.0 sensor, and SDK as well.

The application is written in C#, using the Windows Store 8.1 API set, and the Kinect for Windows SDK 2.0. Using the Kinect sensor, I have implemented some basic facial recognition functions and used it for the authentication of the current user. Upon authentication, the e-mails of the user is shown. The application includes basic voice command recognition functionality as well.
