Design of an intelligent and universal UPS for single boards

In this semester my task is the design of an universal, uninterruptable power supply (UPS), and the calculation and choice of circuit components. This power supply will be used in a tennis robot which works with a Rasberry PI (Host, Single Board). In the current system the host can not properly unmount the external data storage (For example the SD card) in case of a supply voltage drop. This can lead to data loss and file system inconsistencies. Therefore on restart the system may not boot and build up. When the voltage drop occurs, the UPS sends a signal to the Host which then has time to safely unmount the external data storage In further plans the UPS will be able to supply the Host up to an hour and it will be capable of starting the Host even if no external power has been applied previously.

The printed circuit board is designed with Altium designer. The PCB will be created by ETT Department in the beginning of the next year. For the selected processor on my Department some tools and a monitor program are available for use.
