Interactive siganture verification frontend on Silverlight platform

Handwritten signature has been used for human identification purposes for a very long time, and it has become a widespread method by now. Because most financial and legal institutions use signatures for authenticaiton, it is essential to find forgeries effectively.

Computerized verification, which gives a great assistance in this, has two main segments, the on-line and the off-line methods. This paper introduces the off-line one, which is sometimes called static pattern recognition and when the verification system uses only the scanned images of the signatures to decide whether the provided samples are original or not.

This paper is about creating a system, that has a Silverlight based user interface which consumes a web service in order to verify the provided signatures. The web service uses an already existing verification software module. During the process the user of the system may choose signatures from their own database or have the test samples checked. As a result the user gets a report that contains the detalis of the verification.
