I made my experiments at the Technological and Economical University of Budapest, in the Electronic Technology Laboratory. My topic was the investigation of wetting properties of intermetallic compounds. First i had to develop a right process to prepare the samples. In addition, i had to find a way to document the surface of the layers. My last task was to investigate the wetting properties of the surface of the layers using the available tools. My experiments raised questions which i was able to answer. Answering these questions can be useful for the electronic industry, since i drew my experimets up by using the same materials and processes. During my experiments i successeded in developing a simple and well reproducible method to observe the wetting properties of the intermetallic compounds created during soldering. My experiments could serv as basis for other useful experiments, like widely investigating the parameters that effect the wetting properties of the layer, or that the use of what materials and processes can improve the wetting properties of the intermetallic compounds.
