Picture quality analysis becomes essential as various videocoding and transferring methods are spreading rapidly. The main purpose of this thesis is to present and compare picture quality measurements.

In the first part of my thesis I introduce the chief parameters of the human visual system’s effect on the vision quality and the relationship between the human visual system and picture quality. Then I give an introduction to bitrate reducing processes at the point of it’s effect on picture quality. Finally I introduce and compare the different subjective and objective picture quality measurements.
