Augmented realty-based virtual furnishing application

In furnishing, the most important task is to create a realistic visualization of our plan. There are many desktop and web based applications for this purpose that are trying to make furnishing as comfortable as possible. There had been a huge progress in the performance of smartphones in the past few years, so there are a lot of recently appeared technologies for mobile platforms. With these technologies we have the opportunity to make furnishing more comfortable: augmenting the camera screen with virtual objects can provide a very realistic view of the room to be decorated.

These days Android is the most widely used mobile operating system in the world, and it supports a lot of technologies that provide tools for developers to process images in real time and draw virtual objects on them. With these technologies Android is the most suitable platform for creating a virtual furnishing tool.

My purpose is to create an augmented reaility-based application on Android, which can be used for decorating our room by placing virtual furnitures on the screen. This application also requires a server side component that handles a central database of furnitures and answers the requests of the client application.
