Configurable digital dashboard for the Bosch Mono-motronic fuel injection system - design and development

The device to be designed is a digital dashboard connected to the Engine Control Unit (ECU) of the Bosch Mono-motronic fuel injection system, that polls the data to be processed and represented - generated during the normal operation of the vehicle - from the diagnostic I/O interface of the ECU regularly in preset time intervals. The dashboard itself will be designed around a microcontroller based system, that will be responsible for the communication towards the ECU, for processing and storing the polled data, and for the representation of the collected information in a way that the driver can easily acknowledge it. The research and design of the device will include the data input and output of data to and from the device, the protocol used by ECU needs to be investigated, the design of representation of the collected data. The latter will be a fine opportunity to conduct research about user-device communication, including ergonomic and technical requirements. The essay will detail the observations during assembling and booting the device itself.
