The topic of my Thesis is container-based virtualization. I introduce the various types of server virtualization and. I give an overview about the aspects container-based virtualization and the motivations behind their development. I present in detail the Docker technology, presenting the architecture of the Docker system and the components, which it is built up from. Thereafter I describe the deployment methods of a service into a containerized Docker system, and how to operate them, focusing on the networking aspects of Docker. I review the popular Docker container-orchestration platforms, and the load balancing solutions that could be used with these platform. I give a short overview about the functionality, the scope of use, advantages and disadvantages of them. After that I design and deploy a test environment, and create two applications that I use to examine and test the functionality of the NGINX load balancer and web server. Further on I investigate the performance of the Docker Swarm Mode container orchestration platform in multi host environment. Finally I evaluate my results and conclude my work.
