Design and implementation of location based functions in a social application on Java ME

The use of social networks on mobile phones is more and more daily for the users. With the popularity of the mobile internet, the demand to access the social networks on mobile devices is high. Despite the fact, that the bigger social portals have mobile application to use the functions or have web interface designed for mobile phones, they are not using the biggest advantage of modern devices in contrast of desktop applications, the GPS receiver.

The point of this thesis is to design and implement functions, which are location-based by means of the GPS receiver in the mobile device. These services are developed and utilized in the project COPI of Department of Automation and Applied Informatics.
