Design and development of a crowd-sourced package delivery platform

Crowdsourced applications are quite popular currently. They connect people as a community platform and based on the shared information they enable new market possibilities. The main contribution of my thesis is a web based platform where registered users can offer package delivery services to another. My goal is to demonstrate the process how an idea becomes a software suited for the user’s needs.

It is a critical factor to assess and satisfy user’s needs while constructing a complex web application, and also focusing on user experience, as there is no user’s manual or training and users can always choose between alternatives. Therefore, great emphasis has been placed on user-centered design during my work. I attempted to select the most appropriate cutting-edge technologies during development, then implementing the application insisting on the predefined design.

I tested the design and the development with usability tests. Real users had been asked to utilize the application, then I defined how to enhance the software’s usability after analyzing the collected data. In the course of my thesis I am going to present the discovered defects and the way I eliminated them. As closure I am going to give a review about future development plans and about the gained experience.
