Mobile phones are one of the world’s fastest developing areas of technology today. More and more people are using smartphones, enabling them to access the Internet 24 hours a day. And we are just discovering the possibilities of mobile applications designed to make our lives easier. As one of the most promising mobile platforms, Android is an ideal tool for examining these possibilities. And with the use of social network services, the developed system can be integrated into our lives even more.

In my thesis I’ll design and implement an event planning system that is capable of creating new functionality on a phone, which can help in solving real life problems. First I’ll propose an implementation-independent architecture, which will include a data SMS-based protocol and a web-based interface for communication trough the Internet.

I’ll also demonstrate the implementation of the mobile application and the web interface, using the Java-based Android platform and PHP. I’ll also show the possibilities of supporting social networks trough the example of implementing Facebook integration
