The mobile telecommunications sector has an unbroken popularity for decades. Due to the continous developement of computer and Internet technology, the knowledge of mobile phones and the expectations of the users are increased. Therefore, 3GPP is continously developing their existing system of standards and thus supports the establishement of increasingly powerful networks.
In my thesis, I would like to show the operation of the LTE standard, which is defined in the 3GPP Release 8. I would like to pay special attention to issues of timing. This may be interesting, because the 3GPP did not clearly define the opportunities of the handling of the users.
After this short introduction, I will explain the process that led to the developement of the LTE. We can learn about the predecessors of the LTE standard. We cab learn about their features and operation.
The second part will describe the specific feature of the LTE standard. I will show the main differences between the LTE and its predecessors and I will talk about the advantages and the disadvantages.
The third chapter will describe the radio operation of the LTE. I will talk about the medium access technologies applied the standard, the LTE framework and the different layers.
In the last, fourth part of my thesis I will come to the question of timing. In an own developed simulation environment, I will examine how the transfer rate occurs depending on certain scheduling algorithms.
