Design and implementation of a LabVIEW controlled mobile communication device

In the last twenty years, since the GSM-based mobile communication debut, the technology has grown exceptionally. Nowadays it’s generally stated in the World’s developed countries, that the GSM coverage area is 100% (except for those sparsely populated areas like Siberia, deserts of Australia or even Alaska and Greenland). In our country this figure reached 99% in 2008, which is still current. The number of subscriptions increase from the beginning, but the sharp rise started in 2000, and now we reach that, there is more SIM cards in circulation in Hungary, as the population. Practically everyone has at least one device, which the GSM-based communication is possible.

However, in the not too distant future (2020) according to some estimates, up to 40 million SIM cards can be placed, thanks to the so-called M2M solutions.

The objective of my thesis is the design and implementation of a mobile communication device that is able to operate on the GSM networks. During the semester I go through the entire planning process, which includes the hardware design - Schematic Capture and PCB - and also the creation of the necessary software.
