In 2012 the release of Microsoft Windows 8 was a big jump in the evolution of the Redmond-based software giant’s widespread operating system family. It brought several innovation, from which maybe the most outstanding is the appearance of the so-called modern style interface and the modern style applications. Regarding the young age of the system, compared to its rivals it offers significantly less application in the platform’s Store.
The thesis is about the developement of a Windows 8 style football live score streaming capable application which makes it possible to browse the latest football news and statisctics, and the creation of the required backend service too. I wrote the application in C# and XAML, and I created the service with the assistance of the Microsoft Azure cloud services, specifically the help of the Blob storage and Worker Role services..
The outcome is a completed Microsoft Windows 8 application ready to be uploaded in the store. I present the process of the construction and development, and the tools and utilities that I used in the meantime.
