Nowadays the electronic measurement and controlling devices are essential part of the laboratory measurements. It is practical and convenient to perform their harmonised control and collection, process and storage of the data from one computerised surface, with a so-called virtual instrument. The virtual instrument development environment of National Instruments, LabVIEW (Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Engineering Workbench) can be used for this purpose excellently.
The object of my thesis is control of measurements dealing with optical inspection of fluorescent lamps - located in the innovation lab of GE Lighting Co., evaluation and recording in defined format of the measurement results, there through facilitation and simplification of the work performed in the innovation laboratory.
In my thesis firstly I shortly present the main characteristics of LabVIEW and part of the development environment. Thereafter I summarise the basic terms of the lightning technique and demonstrate the physical principia of operation of the lightning lamps and LED’s and their main parameters. In the second part I present the measurement layout and the instruments used during working out of my thesis, the measurement platform virtual instrument developed by me and a few measurement results.
