Today, in our running world, we went to do more and more things, often parallel, but we haven't got more time. Twenty-four hours is the same twenty-four hours like ten, twenty or thirty years ago. On the other hand processors and microcontrollers can do much more calculations during the same time. With embedded systems we can use these advantages of controllers to compensate our missing time.
From my point of view, these systems don't be for replacing human work and/or do everything in place of us, but for help in our daily lifestyle, to do your tasks more effectively in workdays, and to have more time with your family members, friends and hobbies at the weekend.
These were the feelings but what about money. Every device with an embedded intelligence asks for extra money, but with a well-developed system, we can reduce our monthly bills, so it will gets back the deposit. In the light of this, my thesis describes the bases of a home automation system, which can decrease electricity usage with no forgotten turned on lights, automatic shutters to keep the house cold in the summer and work the climate system less, etc.
