Automation of various buildings, whether smaller or industrial size, has been getting increasing emphasis. An appropriately designed and implemented building automation can even save energy.

The topic of my diploma is the automation of three rooms of a Budapest apartment including full design and implementation of building automation. In the thesis, I will provide a brief overview of the most important powerline communication technologies and of major types of building automation before describing the project implementation in details.

Working out the solution, I have gained experience with the advantages and disadvantages of X10 control protocol and communication solution, have acquired knowledge of operational capabilities of subsystems, and have gained experience in providing simple solutions for various emerging errors.
