Controller design for a residential building HVAC

My thesis topic was provided by Gamma Digital kft.

My task was to design a complete control for the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system in a residential building. During the last months I was studying the ceiling-installed heating and cooling devices its installation processes, system setups and maintenance procedures.

It also was my task to develop an electrical plan and to create a P&I scheme for each of the devices used in this system. So I could learn the symbols and drawings of electrical plans and the tools used for this purposes especially the EPLAN P8 design software.

The system was controlled on a Siemens PLC. The controller software uses ladder diagrams. Its parameters can be set by a Simatic KPT 400 Basic Mono operational panel.

After the planning phase and setting up the PLC, the installation was not finalized, but I present all required steps for complete installation and startup.

In my work I designed a technological scheme for a complete HVAC system in an existing residential building based on mechanical plans. I created the electrical plans, the control software and the documentation to install and operat the system. Meanwhile, I have learned the complete process of electrical planning and using the Siemens TIA Portal and the EPLAN P8 design environment.
