Development of a MTA (MOST Trace Analyser) application

The MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) is a high-speed multimedia network technology optimized by the automotive industry. Since the first car implemented MOST in 2001, more than 200 car models have been launched with this technology [1]. Nowadays almost every major automotive manufacturer implements MOST technology, including BMW, Aston Martin, Mercedes–Benz, Porsche, Range Rover, Toyota, Volkswagen/Audi, Daimler [2].

During the development of a modern automotive multimedia device implementing MOST technology there can be demands for a software which can interpret the messages sent via MOST channel. With this software it can be decided whether the root cause of a MOST related issue is inside the device or is in the data sent via MOST.

The main goal of this thesis is demonstrating the MOST technology specified by MOST Cooperation from the physical layer to the application layer. The further knowledge in the MOST protocol’s and in the standardized methods described by the MOST Specification is inevitable.
