We live in the era of Internet-based services, mobile devices and smart phones. The increasing data traffic is converging towards mobile networks. Mobil phones are also threatened by malwares and computer viruses like any other internet-connected device. They can cause serious damage when a device that knows your personal information, habits, email address, password, or even the ability to track your current location.
Protection against malware can also be achieved by applications running on user equipments, but real security only can be ensured on a secure network. It should be implemented at the level of the mobile network by the service providers for the sake of transparency and appropriate level of QoE. However, this means that the multi-Gbps backbone line virus protection should be achieved, which is an almost impossible task.
My task is to design and realize a malware detection system capable of monitoring the mobile network of a service provider in real-time, within the scope of the Mobile Innovation Centre and the AITIA International Ltd. joint project in cooperation with Péter Bornemissza and Győző Gódor. My work includes taking part in the design process of the system, furthermore the planning and implementation of the software components.
